On July 17, 2026, AsiaGB migrated its US datacenter from DigitalOcean's data center in New York to OVHcloud's data center in Oregon. This migration is part of our strategy to provide customers with improved performance and sustained reliability. This article explains what has changed, what remains the same, and what you don't need to do yourself.
1. Why AsiaGB Migrated Its US Datacenter from DigitalOcean New York to OVHcloud Oregon
On July 17, 2026, AsiaGB migrated its US datacenter from DigitalOcean's data center located in New York (NYC1) to OVHcloud's data center located in Hillsboro, Oregon, a suburb of Portland on the west coast of the United States. This change is part of the company's long-term strategy to deliver improved performance and sustained reliability to our customers.
OVHcloud was founded in 1999 and is Europe's largest cloud service provider, with more than 40 data centers distributed worldwide. The company operates independently by building and managing its own servers, as well as its own water cooling systems and telecommunications networks. This independence allows OVHcloud to maintain strict quality control and performance standards.
Additionally, AsiaGB also uses OVHcloud for our Singapore data center, meaning customers receive the same quality service standards across both regions. AsiaGB was founded in 2007 and has 19 years of experience providing web hosting services to Thai customers. Our support team is ready to provide consultation in Thai through our ticket system at billing.in.th/submitticket.php 24 hours a day.
2. What Has Changed for Existing Customers
AsiaGB customers will see only a few noticeable differences. The most important improvement is server latency when accessing from Thailand has improved slightly, from approximately 180–250 milliseconds on NYC1 to approximately 160–220 milliseconds, as the west coast of the United States (Oregon) is closer to Thailand and the Asia-Pacific region than the east coast (New York).
Additionally, the server's default timezone has changed from America/New_York to America/Los_Angeles. This only affects users who use Cron Jobs or set server schedules by directly referencing the server's timezone. If your application already has its timezone set to UTC or Asia/Bangkok, no changes are necessary.
| Topic | DigitalOcean NYC (Previous) | OVHcloud Oregon (Current) |
|---|---|---|
| Provider/Location | DigitalOcean (NYC1, New York) | OVHcloud US-WEST-OR (Hillsboro, Oregon) |
| Latency from Thailand | Approximately 180–250ms | Approximately 160–220ms |
| Server Default Timezone | America/New_York | America/Los_Angeles |
| Provider Founded Year | 2011 | 1999 |
AsiaGB customers benefit from improved latency from Thailand at no additional cost. All pricing and services remain the same.
3. What Remains the Same (Pricing, DirectAdmin, Backup, Uptime SLA)
Everything AsiaGB customers are familiar with remains completely the same. The pricing of each package (500, 800, and 1,200 baht per year) and the amount of SSD space (5, 10, and 15 GB per package) have not changed at all.
Regarding maintenance and usage, AsiaGB continues to use the same DirectAdmin control panel, free SSL Certificate, backup twice per month (on the 1st and 15th), 99% Uptime SLA, and Unlimited Bandwidth and Unlimited Websites services—all remain unchanged.
4. What Customers Need to Do After the Migration
The most common question from customers is 'What do I need to do?' and the answer is: AsiaGB customers don't need to do anything on their own. AsiaGB has completed the entire server and data migration.
The nameservers that you configured at your registrar continue to work as before and do not need to be changed. All DNS Record settings, Mail Records, SSL Certificate, and other configurations continue to function normally. You don't need to make any edits or additional checks unless you encounter problems.
5. Why AsiaGB Chose OVHcloud Over Other Providers
AsiaGB chose OVHcloud because the company has a strong reputation for reliability, with experience since 1999 in providing cloud services and high-quality infrastructure. OVHcloud builds its own servers and owns its own infrastructure, which means the company maintains stricter control over quality, performance, and security compared to providers that merely lease infrastructure.
Furthermore, OVHcloud has data centers in multiple regions, and AsiaGB has chosen to use OVHcloud services in both the United States (Oregon) and Singapore. This means AsiaGB customers will receive consistent service standards and reliability across both regions. This represents AsiaGB's continued commitment to delivering quality services and meeting the needs of Thai customers.
